Evaluation Task 7 - Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full production?

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full production?

After filming my preliminary task, I feel as though I have learnt a lot of new skills in media. Firstly I have learnt  to use the different camera shots and rules, for example I know how to incorporate the 180 degree rule and how to use shot revers shot when two characters are having a conversation. I also knew how to use different camera shots such as; high and low angle shots, close ups, mid shots etc.

From my preliminary task, I extended my imagination, as this video was very simple and very boring. I added in lots of effects such as diegetic and non diegetic sounds, I added in lots of titles and connotations, I added in lots of film transitions so that my film ran smoothly.

Not only did I learn new things and improve on the filming and editing on my film but I also learn to use new software. For example using Premier Pro was a new experience for me, although I struggled to get to grips with the editing at first I soon began to become confident with the software. I also extenuated my knowledge and skill making from my preliminary task when I started uploading my video drafts to YouTube, this is something I hadn't done before and found it very helpful when I needed my film link.

Evaluation Task 6 - What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

HD camera and tripod

I used a HD camera to capture the opening of my film. This camera allowed me to film in high definition and with this camera came a tripod. The tripod was very helpful to attach the camera so that my film wasn't shaky and so that I could use the camera in different angles.
This was the camera and tripod I used:

Programmes used

When planning my film and putting my ideas together I used the software PowerPoint and blogger. I used PowerPoint to present my ideas of the opening of my film, this involved; the settings, the characters, the target audience etc.  I have used blogger to upload my research of teen angst films, the planning of my opening teen angst film and finally evaluating my teen angst film opening.

When editing what I had filmed using the HD camera, I had to upload all of my clips onto a programme called premier pro. This programme allowed me to edit my film and link the different clips had filmed into a sequence to make an opening of a film. This programme let me slow down clips, make them quicker, add in sound effects, music and many more  things that would help my film become better in itself.

I also used another programme called Photoshop, I used this programme to design my production Logo. Without this programme I would have struggled to create a unique and quirky production logo.

Uploading websites

To complete my blog I had to upload several video clips onto my blog, however this wasn't as simple as dragging them into my blog. I had to make myself a YouTube account and upload all media onto YouTube and then copy and past the link of this into my blog. I uploaded my preliminary task, my several drafts of the film and then my final produce of the film.

Other technologies used

Other technologies I used was my mobile phone, because I was working in a group with two other people, we found it a good idea to create a 'media group chat'. This allowed us to talk about out film and what we needed to do and what we had/hadn't done. It was also very helpful having this group chat when it came to organising the filming and locations of our film.
Here are a few conversations about the organisation of our film progress:

Evaluation Task 5 - How did you attract / address your audience?

How did you attract / address your audience?

Evaluation Task 4 - Who would be the audience for your media product?

Who would be the audience for your media product?

The audience of my target audience would be a teenage geeky girl. She would shop for books and stationary, as she will have little interest in fashion. She would listen to acoustic music, quiet and gentle songs. She wouldn't be up to date with the latest chart music, as her personality wouldn't reflect that. She would be interested in educational things such as reading and watching documentaries and the news.

I think this type of audience would watch my film because they could relate to the fact they don't fit in and that they are different in their own way. They would sympathies with the main character Holly as they know how it feels to be bullied by an it girl. It is also a teen angst film and most teenagers want to watch films of characters that are the similar age of themselves.

Evaluation Task 3 - What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Script:

What does a production company do?
A production company is responsible for the development and filming of a specific production or media broadcast. The production process begins with the development of a specific project. Once a final script has been produced by the screenwriters, the production enters into the pre-production phase, most productions never reach this phase for financing or talent reasons. In pre-production, the actors are signed on and prepared for their roles, crew is signed on, shooting locations are found, sets are built or acquired, and the proper shooting permits are acquired for on location shooting.

Distributor and who that might be and why?
Distributor is a company that will distribute my film. I would want a Global company such as Sony, Columbia etc to distribute my film. This is because it will give my film a bigger and better audience, rather then it being distributed by a niche company that isn't very known.

Why the various people are named in the titles of my film?
The titles to my film are who produce the film, who edited the film and who filmed it. All of these titles follow a name of either Becky, Ellie or Chelsea. This is because three of us all had an even contribution to the production, editing and distribution of the film.
