Planning - Characters

Characters

Character One:

Character one is the main character called Holly. She is a timid, clever young lady who attends her local secondary school. In the opening of my film I want the audience to get the impression that she is this geeky character who is well behaved and has no friends.

I plan to have Holly wearing, glasses, her hair tied up, a little make up, blue denim jeans, a jacket and a plain t shirt. This look will create a plan look to the character and will connote a boring personality to the audience.

Then...
I plan to make a complete change to this characters look, she will be wearing a short black dress which will show off her hidden figure in the previous clothes. This character will also be wearing high inched heels, make up, her hair down, jewellery and she will be wearing contacts.

I  plan to do this change of look when Holly has a party. I wanted to demonstrate this because it is stereo typical of teenage girl to feel the pressure to dress to impress boys.

Character Two:

Character two is the main girls mum, Sharon. She is your stereo typical mum, she cooks she cleans, she's caring. She has short blonde hair, she will be wearing blue jeans, blue boots and a coat and floral scarf.

In the opening of the film she will be shown as very angry and upset from Holly having a party whilst her parents went away. Disappointment and anger will be shows through a close up shot of this characters facial expressions when she see's her daughter has had a party.

Character Three:

Character three is the main girls step dad, he is tall and very strict and doesn't particularly like Holly. He wears a quilted jacket, blue jeans and sneakers in the opening of the film.

He is also going to be angry and disappointed by Holly throwing a party, I plan to show this through a shot reverse shot of the stepdad having a close up of his facial expressions and then the camera moving in a fast pace towards Holly's face, facing the floor.

Extra Characters:

For the opening of my teen angst film I am going to have lots of extra teenagers who will play the key roles in the school setting, when Holly is being shown to have no friends and when the party is in process. I also plan to use different teenagers who are getting ready for the party, both males and females. I am planning on doing this so that it shows the audience the different ways in which the genders of teenager's get ready.

By the end of the opening of my teen angst film I hope that the audience get a real feel to who my characters are and how the story will unfold if it was to become a full film. I also hope that my target audience being teenagers, that they will be able to relate to certain situations/relationships in the opening of my film.
